Get Active - Get Moving - Get Dancing Come to a Barn Dance on Wednesday evenings in Essex at Southend's barn dance club, the Grand Ceilidh Club, Everyone from aged 11 upwards is welcome at our friendly club, dancing to live music, with a different band every week. Come with a partner or come on your own - there'll always be someone to dance with. Never been to a barn dance before? All our dances are 'called' by a professional who will tell you exactly what to do. What should you wear for a barn dance? Well, there's no special costume. We don't wear cowboy hats, just ordinary clothes but high heels are best avoided. We meet from 8.15pm every Wednesday at the Royal Naval Association in East Street, Southend.
and this is where we meet Follow the link to our About us page to find out how to find us. See you on Wednesday! And note that the mysterious word in the title is pronounced kayley. See the History page to find out more about it. Dancing is more than a social
activity - this is
what Sport England
says:
Participating in sport can reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases,
obesity, some cancers, strokes, osteoporosis - the health
benefits
are well known and numerous. For example, statistics show
that an
active lifestyle can reduce the risk of coronary heart
disease by 50
per cent. …
getting involved in physical activity is FUN… honestly! Not everyone will want to be out on a muddy rugby pitch but that's not your only option… …think about walking that extra mile, cycling, dance, yoga, tennis… anything that is fun and active… it all counts. And don't be a stranger… Don't forget exercising with friends is twice as much fun. (Note: our emphasis) |
